According to AutoCar India’s report, in the second half of 2025, Toyota will launch a new SUV as their first electric vehicle in India. It will be based on the Urban SUV concept which was showcased December last year. It’s expected to share some features with the upcoming Maruti eVX which is set to debut in Indian market the first quarter of the next year. Toyota is launching an electric SUV in India next year
The Toyota Urban SUV has dimensions of 4,300 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height. It’s comparable to the Maruti eVX in terms of size. The production model’s wheelbase may be around 2,700 mm. Like the eVX, it will be based on the 27PL skateboard platform. This platform, that has been extensively localized, is manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant and will be exported globally alongside being sold in the Indian market.
Toyota Electric SUV: High-tech Cabin
Inspired by the concept model, Toyota’s upcoming electric SUV will feature bold angular surfaces, C-shaped LED DRLs, and a front bumper. Additionally, it will have a rear-wheel arch, an upright SUV silhouette, and luxurious and safe features.It is speculated to come out highly decorated with modern technology.
Toyota Electric SUV: Battery and Range
Toyota’s electric SUV is expected to offer two battery pack options : 60kWh and 48kWh. The 60 kWh power pack is estimated to provide a 550 km range on a full charge. On the other hand, the 48 kWh power pack is claimed to cover a range up to 400 km. The car will be available in front and dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants.
Toyota’s Electric SUV Competitors
Upon its market launch, Toyota’s midsize electric SUV will compete with Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX. It promises more space, safety elements, comfortable features, and cutting-edge technology inside the car.
