In the past few years, there has been a surge in SUV car sales in the country’s market. People are opting for larger, powerful engines, sturdy builds, and loaded features in sports utility vehicles. Currently, the king of this segment is the Tata Nexon, which recently achieved a production milestone of six lakh units by Tata Motors.
Tata Nexon touches a new milestone
Tata sells both the ICE and electric versions of the Nexon. It’s the most popular sub-compact SUV in the Indian market, competing against rivals like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonnet, and Hyundai Venue. Currently, the Nexon’s price ranges from 8.10 lakh to 15.50 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). Tata Nexon is available in four variants – Smart, Pure, Creative, and Fearless. The car comes with two engine options – a 1.2-liter turbo petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The former produces 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. It is available with 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and 7-speed dual-clutch transmissions. The diesel engine model produces 113 bhp and 260 Nm of torque and is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed AMT.
On the other hand, buying the electric version of the Nexon costs between 14.74 lakh to 19.94 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). It is offered in three variants – Creative, Fearless, and Empowered. The car can be purchased with two types of battery options.
The Nexon EV’s 30 kWh battery pack model delivers 127 bhp and 215 Nm of torque, providing a range of 325 kilometers on a full charge. Meanwhile, the 40.5 kWh battery pack model outputs 142 bhp and 215 Nm of torque, capable of running 465 kilometers on a full charge.
