Honda has unveiled the CR-V e:FCEV, America’s first plug-in hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle. The CR-V e:FCEV, based on the CRV SUV, stands out with its hydrogen fuel cell technology. The design of the vehicle includes sleek headlamps and a narrower front grille.Notably, the air intake arrangement at the rear is absent, that indicates a significant change.
While comparing to the ICE version, the CR-V e:FCEV variant shares almost similar features. The interior boasts a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch HD touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker premium audio system, power-adjustable heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control.
The hydrogen-powered Honda CR-V houses a hydrogen tank beneath the rear seat to supply power to the fuel cell unit. A 17.7 kWh battery is located on the floor to store energy for the electric motor. The powertrain delivers 172 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. But whether this vehicle will come to India or not, remains uncertain as Honda has not provided any information about that till now.
