In the country, whether it’s a four-wheeler or a two-wheeler, if there aren’t enough charging stations, it’s not feasible to drive long distances just by charging at home. Because if the battery runs out midway, endless distress have to suffer. So, just like petrol pumps, there’s a need for charging stations every few kilometers on the roads too. Companies understand that there is no way other than that to increase the number of customers. That’s why India’s largest e-scooter manufacturer, Ola Electric, is taking proactive steps this time.
Ola will increase the number of service centers and hyperchargers.Ola’s founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal recently announced that within the next quarter, by June, they will increase the number of their service centers by 50%, and alongside that, the range of their hypercharger network will be expanded ninefold. Currently, Ola has 400 service centers and 1,000 EV chargers in the country.
Aggarwal said at a recent press conference that with the increasing demand for electric vehicles, expanding the number of service centers is especially urgent to meet the demand. He also mentioned that scooter servicing will be completed within one to two days at service centers, as opposed to before. Keeping this promise is crucial. Currently, their service centers are overcrowded with customers. Therefore, Ola is optimistic that increasing the number of service centers will significantly improve the situation.
By April 2024, Ola plans to increase the number of service centers to 200, bringing the total to 600. On the other hand, the current number of EV charging networks will be increased from 1,000 to 10,000 by the next quarter. Here, we’re talking about the company’s hypercharger, which is essentially a fast charger.
Additionally, Ola has announced that they will sell portable fast chargers to individual customers. They hope this will greatly reduce customers’ worries, as these can be easily installed at home or in the office. The company has revealed that it will cost 30,000 rupees for this setup.
