MG Comet EV: Cheaper than Maruti, country’s most affordable electric car at 1 lakh discount

The price of electric cars being higher than ICE models’– this fundamental concept has completely changed the Britain’s MG Motor. Recently, the Indian branch of the company announced a reduction in prices for all their vehicles, causing a buzz in the country’s automobile industry. This has shaken long-standing beliefs. MG Motor’s most affordable EV model, MG Comet EV, is now priced even lower than the top variant of Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling model, WagonR. This is truly a surprising news.

The price of MG Comet EV has significantly dropped. It now costs 6.99 lakh rupees, down from the previous 7.98 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). This is a reduction of 99,000 rupees. On the other hand, the current price of Maruti WagonR 1.2-liter ZXi+ AGS variant is 7.25 lakh rupees (ex-showroom), while the base model is priced at 5.54 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). However, it can undoubtedly be said that potential buyers will not miss the opportunity to buy an electric car at such a low price.

To meet the daily needs there is no comparison of MG Comet EV. It comes with a 17.3 kWh power-packed automatic battery, capable of covering 230 kilometers on a full charge. It produces a maximum power of 41.5 BHP and 110 Nm torque from the electric motor.It also features a 3.3 kWh charger, taking 7 hours for a full battery charge.

The car boasts essential features like a 10.25-inch integrated floating infotainment touchscreen, LED lights, full digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, reverse parking brake, digital Bluetooth key, and smart connected car capabilities. The MG Comet EV offers three variants: Pace, Play, and Plush, catering to different preferences and needs. The first one is the base, and the last one is the top-end variant.
