Once gloriously sold in the Indian market, many motorcycles have lost their charm under today’s norms, undergoing various transformations. However, one legendary bike that might bring back the old charm is the Yamaha RX100. This bike had conquered the roads in the ’80s and ’90s, leaving a lasting impression. Yamaha had discontinued the production of this iconic bike in 1996, but its legacy still lives on in many Indian households. Now, Yamaha is gearing up for the legendary bike’s comeback in a new avatar.

Yamaha RX100 is making comeback with new engine in India.

According to LiveMint’s report, the iconic motorcycle is returning in a refreshed version. The new version is expected to have a more powerful engine compared to its predecessor. The bike is anticipated to appeal to the younger generation with its updated design.

The new RX100 might feature a BS6 Phase 2 compliant powerful 225.9cc engine, producing a maximum power of 20.1 bhp and a peak torque of 19.93 Nm. Yamaha aims to maintain the bike’s legendary popularity by introducing some design enhancements in the new version. According to reports, the price of the new RX100 could range from ₹1.25 lakhs to ₹1.50 lakhs (ex-showroom).The aim to keep the prices low, Yamaha intends to maintain a balance between providing a premium experience and affordable pricing.

Why the new Yamaha RX100 is getting a 225.9cc engine?

Yamaha RX100 was highly popular for its lightweight and sleek design. In addition to its sound and power, it attracted customers, especially for its features. However, at that time, the engine was a two-stroke. Now, maintaining that legacy, Yamaha has decided to incorporate at least a 200cc powertrain into the revamped four-stroke engine. Previous reports suggested that Yamaha is currently working on a motorbike that combines high performance with a lightweight design and increased power. This indicates a hint towards the new version of the RX100.
