Suzuki is expressing dissatisfaction with the sluggish sales of their hatchback models despite a global increase in SUV sales. In response, they are launching new versions of various models at specific intervals. This time, Suzuki has introduced the new generation Swift in the German market, having previously showcased it in Japan and Britain. It is expected that Maruti Suzuki will launch this version of Swift in the Indian market around March-April this year.
The new generation Suzuki Swift is available only with a hybrid powertrain option. It features a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 83 bhp, coupled with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system. The car comes with a choice of manual or CVT automatic transmission and offers an option for an all-grip all-wheel-drive system.
The latest version of the Swift has received updates in its sharp and classy design. It includes sleeker LED headlights, along with integrated LED DRLs. The rear bumper design has also been refreshed, featuring new pattern fog lamps. Additionally, it sports 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
In terms of features, the latest Swift has adopted conventional door handles instead of hidden ones. The cabin includes a notable 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a new sleek-looking rectangular AC vent. It is speculated that the Indian version of Maruti Suzuki Swift will not offer mild-hybrid in this model, but it will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
Compared to the current models in the market, the upcoming version of Swift offers slightly lower power and torque. The existing model produces 89 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The current price of the car is around INR 5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). Due to some updates, the price of the new model might see a slight increase.
